Adventure Story Book Club- Children’s Cajun Tales & Crafts

Childrens Cajun Storybooks

Welcome back to the Adventure Story Book Club! This months theme was Fairy Tales “Once upon a time” and the thing I love about this book club is that you can go in any direction you desire. We decided since we were going to Louisiana to visit friends for Mardi Gras we would check out some different cajun tales. These are the 3 books we found at the Jtown library to explore.

Three Little Cajun Pigs by Mike Artell

Gator Gumbo: A Spicy-Hot Tale by Candace Fleming

Petite Rouge “A Cajun Red Riding Hood” by Mike Artell

We had such a great time exploring Louisiana and Mardi Gras!!! We come home with over 30lbs of Mardi Gras beads so we will be gifting beads for the next several months!!!! We even had the opportunity  to try some Cajun Crawfish & Boudin!!! The kids weren’t sure what they thought about the crawfish but they loved the boudin!

We planned to make a couple Mardi Gras Crafts to go along with this months book club fun however all 3 children ended up sick with the flu so we didn’t accomplish it all this month.

Here were a couple of the crafts we were thinking of doing:

Paper Jester Hat

Paper Jester Hat From Mardi Gras Outlet

Mardi Gras Mask

Handprint Mardi Gras Mask from About Home

What is Adventure Story Book Club?:

Adventure Story Book Club is a free monthly book club where we will be taking a themed monthly topic and selecting any book that is appropriate to the theme. Then, on the 3rd Friday of the month we will share the book we chose and share  a fun activity, something themed related for the book that they selected. The age range is selected by the participant bloggers, so it can range from Pre-K to 12th. Our desire is to help you take your children on an adventure each month by exploring new books along with themed crafts and activities.

Do NOT forget to checkout Adventure Story Book Club on Facebook & Pinterest to share your ideas on books and activities.
